Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
